How to create the perfect logo for your small business brand (infographic)

By Henry Brown

Having a logo for your brand is essential. It’s the first impression people have of you, and it’s a necessary part of any marketing strategy. A lot goes into designing a successful logo, but there are four things that every designer should keep in mind: color choice, font selection, shape, and symbolism. An excellent place to begin is with a logo style guide.

When it comes to color, brands need to think about what they want their logo to convey and then use that as a guide. For example, if you’re trying to appear professional and trustworthy, then blue or gray would be the best choice because those colors are associated with trust in marketing studies. On the other hand, companies like Nike have used red because it’s associated with passion and energy.

Font selection is something that people often overlook when designing a logo, but it can make or break the whole thing. For example, if you wanted to convey strength, Helvetica would be an excellent font choice for your brand name, while Comic Sans might not give off such a strong message.

When it comes to shape, companies need to be careful about what they choose because the wrong one could negatively impact their business.
If you’re a company that requires creative work from other people, then using something geometric might not give off the right impression and intimidate designers into turning down your projects.

On the other hand, if you’re a company that wants to convey sleekness and modernity, then using something geometric might be the right choice.
As for symbolism, this is where companies need to think about what they want their logo to say about them. While a logo might seem like a simple design, there’s a lot that goes into it, and it can make or break your brand.
