After the last year and a half of the pandemic, most people have had to transition to working from home. A lot of people discovered they much preferred remote working, thanks to greater flexibility or an improved work-life balance, whereas others found it was harder to work without face-to-face time with their colleagues and more distractions at home.

As vaccines roll out, people are starting to think about whether or not it is time to return to the office, or whether the last year has taught us a better way of managing the workplace. It seems that the solution is a hybrid workplace. A hybrid workplace means that people can choose to work from many different places, whether that’s the office, a co-working space, a coffee shop, or home.

A survey carried out by American Worker explored what employees and businesses want now that going back to the office is an option. While some are ready to return to the office, most people want to continue working from home, at least a few days a week. The new answer seems to be flexibility.
More flexibility works for both employees and companies. It can make employees more loyal and engaged, without causing a dip in productivity. Giving employees more control, flexibility, and freedom in where and when they work is at the heart of the hybrid workplace. The pandemic has revealed that greater flexibility works well for everyone and that the traditional way of working may not be the best option after all.
