Ensuring brand consistency across the board

By Henry Brown

Your brand is something that can be hugely important in terms of knowing what people are thinking about your business and what kinds of assumptions they are making. The stronger control you have over your brand, the more likely it is that you will be able to ensure that people see your business in a strong and positive light. However, it can be hard to make sure that it is doing its job, and the most important part of this is thinking about its consistency, or in other words, ensuring that it looks and feels the same across all channels and everywhere it appears. In this post, we will look at ways you can ensure this consistency is maintained.

Being clear on design

For a brand to be perfectly consistent, the design of it must be as clear as possible. If it is not clear, then it will mean that it is much more of a challenge for everyone to know what it is meant to be and how it should appear. The more clear you are able to be on the design of the brand, the more consistent it will inevitably be.

The best way to make sure you have a clear design is to work on it as much as you can at the start and with the express goal of making it clear. That is the only way to ensure that you are going to have clarity from the start in a way that will really help, so it’s really important to think about as best as you can. If there is a whole team of you to think about, then you need to ensure that everyone is clear on it from the very start too, which might require that you need to work on the communication levels between you and other people – something else that you might consider an important bedrock of this process.

Communication

The clearer the communication is between you and other people in your business, the easier you will likely find it to ensure that you have high brand consistency at all times across the board. For that reason, you will want to work on how you communicate with other people in your business, and do whatever you feel is in your power to be able to improve and open the culture across the business in order to make open communication the norm.

With great communication comes the ability to express what your brand is and should be, and that means that you can expect it to be much more consistent wherever it might appear. Clearly, that is something to think about and you should make sure that you are aiming to improve your business in this way as much as you possibly can.

Using tech to make it easier

There are many technological solutions you can think of using that might help the way in which you try to keep the brand consistent, and it is certainly worth paying attention to these as best as you can. The more you know what tech to use, the more likely it is that you can do all this effectively and efficiently, so it is something to make sure that you are focused on.

One example of the ways in which tech might be able to help you is the use of RSS feeds. These are feeds that you can use to send out information across many different channels at once. Because of the way they work, they are an ideal means of ensuring that you are actively marketing without your branding changing at all, which is exactly what we are going for here. All you need to do is create RSS feed and make sure that you have places to send it out to – social media and so on.

Reviewing

Every now and then, it is worth taking a step back and reviewing what you have done branding-wise and how it appears to be going. The more that you keep on top of it in this managerial way, the more likely it is that you will be able to keep the brand as consistent as you need it to be, which is absolutely going to make a difference to the success of your business overall too.
